BOARDSCANS

INTERESTING POINTS...ah..

THE INTERESTING SIDE

That cable sure makes conversion easy.

The shielding is COVERED in fingerprints that aren't mine. They seem to be from the factory, as they look old.

I really don't understand all the hot glue on the board. It almost seems random in placement.

The system has a country designation check box: USA or JPN. Nothing as nice as jumpers though, just a reminder to use the right Hu slot parts...(Awwww)

Notice the left side, and the little blue component. That is all the power protection you have on the express while on battery power. *My current project is a power protection circuit that you can splice between the express and the batteries. Once protected, you could use rechargables. If you included an external dongle, you could have a step down from a  9.5V nicad rechargable, getting 10 or more hours playtime. What is really weird is that the DC power in has a step down and protection... but the battery doesn't.... (didn't I say it was full of quirks?)

One more note: BE VERY CAREFUL with the cable for the LINK PORT. It rips like the edge of a cheap potato chip bag. (Now how does he know?....hmm) But if you rip it, you can always tap into the board and run a wire to the back of the port (I thanked Jesus for that one).
