The box is very compact. The board inside has lots of switches and toggles. It requires 9 volts of external power.

The cards are very simple in design, and fit nicely into the SMS. The latter of the boards has a very hodgepodge mapper soldered onto it, and I'm afraid to touch it in case a point should break. The "AM ONLY!" markings scare the shit out of me. I can imagine the snap, crackle, pop as the magnesium case catches fire and burns out my retinas. (Actually the case is aluminum.) This kit was used as late as 1992 for Game Gear dev. Radiant Silvergun for GG anyone? Oh the possibilities..

It's mine. No I won't sell/trade/have sex in exchange for it.

GOOD: It's SMS, it's DEV

BAD: You'll probably be able to get Celine Dion into a pool full of lesbians and Jello before you'll find one of these.

UGLY: It's so old the diagrams are done on cave walls.

Just try to get this through customs.

I'm coming back from Japan with a silver box that has lights, dials, and a momentary push button.

Actually this dev kit is a bit on the confusing side. There's absolutely ZERO info on it, and SEGA support just gets a glossy eyed look. Any help is eagerly welcomed. My phone call to SEGA didn't work out...

ME: "Hello? Do you have any tech documentation on the Master System or Game Gear development unit?"

SEGA: "Please, just go away... Sony is here, and if he catches me on the phone, he'll hurt us both. I'm sorry, I want to help you, but... Oh my God... He's here... No... PLEASE!! I wasn't talking to ANYONE... That hurts! You're hurting me! (sobbing). I thought you said you loved me! Pleassss... I'll do more ports and.. (click)"

Ah well. She never loved me anyway.
