SEGA SATURN VIDEO CARDS- THE VIDEO CARD BONANZA ROUNDUP #1 FANCY

The first thing I noticed about this board was that the screws were HOT GLUED to the metal frame... "Hmmm" I thought. Oh well. I took a screw driver, scraped off the glue, and took the screws out.

Gee, that's funny! There's no markings? The right chip looks like it was acid washed to remove the name...

The board looks like it was made somewhere decent, maybe even ISO certified!

The case is standard HK chrome crap metal. Bend it enough and all the cheap chrome will flake off all over the PC board.

I flipped the board over and found this.

Made in... a car? a rented jail cell? Fill in you own favorite.

The last suprise.. having scanned this item, I tried to put it back together. Put the board in, closed it up, got the screws... what the??!! The holes in the metal are TOO BIG. So that's why they glued them in place.... <sigh>

This might not be the best example to open, but if I have to ruin a VCD card, this is the one. All the other boards are similar in design, so this one will have to do.

SUMMARY:

Q. Is it worth buying a VCD card for Saturn?

A. Yes you blathering fool, Lunar rules, don't make me send nall to your house to crush your spine. Besides, you can use it to watch your illegal japanese lolita VCD movies when you're done.

Q. Which is the best card?

A. The Hi-Saturn card seems to have marginally cleaner video. But you can only get it with the Hi-Saturn as far as I know. So you know what that means. You have to steal it.

Q. Should I get the knock off card? It's all I can find, and I just blew $15,000 on Lunar MPEG off ebay!

A. Sure! Go ahead! And I have some bottom land in georgia that's reeeeeallly cheap. I'll throw in a perpetual motion machine too.Buy it! (Cause' odds are the one on ebay is this one.. after I glue it back together)

Well, that's it... another world shattering issue is dealt with.
