The system has a single simm slot. I had an 8mb simm in it, but I think it supports 16mb. The hard disk installation is a crude thing. The SX-1 uses a small notebook format hard drive. To install it, you have to remove the board you see on the left. You then mount the hard drive with stick doubleside tape, and make sure (read pray) it won't short the board. There's scant room for clearance, so I used a sheet of clear plastic. The board is replaced, but ho ho! The hard drive is too big! No hard drive will fit! So when replaced, the board BOWS is little. I felt very uncomfortable with this, but it worked. I left the board loose, and let it float on top of the hard drive. The system also adds XT style keyboard support, so you don't have to lay out lots of cash for a hard to get amiga keyboard. This has to be the most powerful upgrade for a console system ever made.
