Pippin prices fluctuate. They're not terribly expensive or useful for that matter... However it is a fun machine.

The Pippin can have horrendous 1+ minute load times for games. However, this is like a Neo Geo CDZ, once loaded, you never do it again in game.

Are there vendors for pippin... well it's a question of cost. From Japan it costs about $60 to mail a loose one (air). A complete one , about $90-100.

If you had to choose between a Pippin and a Neo Geo, take the Neo Geo.

PROTOTYPES

What you are looking at is a beta for an updated browser that was to be released in 1997-1998. As far as I know it wasn't officially released. The only copy.

EARLY PROTOTYPES

The original mockup.

A Japanese production sample for USA market. Taken from EBAY.

Unfortunately I was away and unable to bid on this. Congrats to the winner. P.S.Trade it to me!

Summary: Pippin is an obtainable but obscure game / computer machine. The Japanese model is easy to get. The US version is far more rare, but it's really just a difference in color.

PROS: It's really rare. It's big. Ah, did I mention that it's really rare?

CONS: Expensive. Neo Geo expensive. The system may only be $200, but the games can be over $100 for good and rare ones. Crap like porn CDS and Photo CDS are around $60. If that's what gets you hard, well, roll with it.

Guidelines: Avoid buying just the system. If it doesn't have a game with it, it may take you years to track some down. (Unless you're willing to fly to Japan.) They are very rare boxed with all interior boxes.

Sources: None, word of mouth is the only way. That or Ebay (Ebay = sell soul)
